Re: Generator
I just checked, when the unit was restored they did not put a castellated nut on the shaft with split pin, only a normal nut and spring washer which obviously does not work. Looking at the drawings above and an original photo of the unit pre-restoration it is quite clear what should be there. Now al...
Re: Generator - Problem solved
Sorry to trouble everyone problem solved. It is late in the day, I thought I would have another closer look contemplating what I would need to pull it down. Then I saw it - the nut on the pulley was loose, not by much, but enough, why or how I don't know. But I tightened it and all is working. Tomor...
Generator
Before I attempted to start my motor for the first time I have been building up oil pressure by simply turning the motor over with the starter motor. All was going well and then I need that the fan blades stopped turning. I checked tension, re tensioned to be sure but still the same problem. Then I ...

1934 canvas canopy/roof
While not there yet, I thought it might be an idea to start gathering detail on the 4 seater roadster canopy structure. I have photos and a general idea but I was wondering does anyone have: A. drawings and measurements of each canvas section to scale or just with general layout and measurements so ...

Re: New Project
Have you considered making a steped thread fitting to allow for a more modern tap fitting?

Re: Le Mans seats and upholstery
Hi Bill When you get a chance, and if you can, can you expand on the attachment of carpet? If I sow leather around the edge of the carpet, how do I tack the sides and still pullover/pulldown? I can understand the top section but the sides challenge me, not hard these days. I once did my 4A from scra...

Re: Le Mans seats and upholstery
Hi Bill,
What did you mean when you said “upholsterer finished” the carpet? Did you still line the metal back with timber or just “sleeve” fitted the upholstery?

Re: Le Mans seats and upholstery
Hi, of some help may be the first photo of seats in a car that I copied from an unrestored, supposedly original car, I t was taken to show the number of pleats, note the two narrow ones on the side. I am about the same stage as you and have collected photos to help. The other photos may also help wi...

Re: Rebirthing one '34 from a '33 & a '34
After 15 days in Mongolia (because I have never been there), trip to Europe (for wife) and UK for Singer Rally (for me), a knee op and recovery, I am now trying to remember where I left off! Its an age thing. Seats fitted today, on slides, not original but the only way 6 foot me and size 12+ feet ca...
