Re: Le Mans recreation
My pleasure to help Jan. That is a lovely car and I think you definitely made the better choice. Here's a photo of Martyn's "Replica" along with his original TT car AVC 481. This car was owned by SOC member Peter Fennell who raced it in the 50's and 60's. It was rebuilt by Peter years late...

Re: Le Mans recreation
Hi Jan, Well, the irony is that the four original TT cars are often mistakenly referred to as "TT Replicas", which, of course, they aren't! I own the only known copy of the sales brochure intended for the actual "TT Replica" that Singer was planning to sell. As we know, the Ards ...

Re: Le Mans recreation
Hi Jan, Congratulations on the purchase of your "TT replica" Singer - one that we can really call a TT Replica! It's been around quite a while and I believe I downloaded some history on it some time ago. I will have to dig into my backup drives to see what I have. I have researched the Lem...

Re: SM Engine in a 39 Roadster Chassis
Hi Geoff, NASOC member Gene Abbondello (also our Club Librarian) successfully fitted a 1500 engine in his 4A, but that car has a stronger chassis based on the 1940 Light Ten saloon that was never produced. This chassis design carried on throughout Roadster production from 1946 to 1955, being heavily...

Re: Help identifying coupe
Hi Colin, I took off the clutch release assembly and cleaned it up so it is easier to see. Here are two photos; one showing it disassembled in order and one of it assembled in order. Obviously the release fork goes between the big washer and the rounded nut. The nut is tapped for the 5/16" BSF ...

Re: Help identifying coupe
Hi Colin
You'd be most welcome, mate, it's my pleasure to help.
When I've got a moment I'll try to dismantle the mechanism and post photos so you can see the parts clearly.
BTW, I think I tagged the LHD gearbox incorrectly. I recall it came from a Nine van.
Cheers

Re: Help identifying coupe
Hi Colin, Great photos - thanks. I have one gearbox identical to yours! Here's the first one. It has an alloy case and was set up for a LHD Bantam export model: Bantam Gearbox_1_Resized.jpg Here's the one like yours. It has the cast iron case and the saddle type rear mount: Bantam Gearbox_2_Resized....

Re: Introduction
Hi Jeoen, Congratulations on the purchase of this lovely Singer and welcome to our group! First off, this car is remarkable as it is Left Hand Drive. I have just written an article on this car in NASOC NEWS, our club magazine, and requested information from the seller, but never got a reply. I would...

Re: Help identifying coupe
Hi Colin...I have two Bantam gearboxes in stock. One is @1935 and one @1936...I think!
Take some photos of yours and I'll see what I can match it with. I can also dig them out and take a couple of photos for you also, if that will help.
Cheers,
Phillip

Hi Colin, Saw your response to David and felt I had to reply. I feel your pain my friend! I have been focusing on my '28 Senior project and it has been frustrating as well, especially on the services side; people don't deliver on promises, aren't interested, or charge the earth for less than great w...
