Thanks Peter for your very helpful response.
I think I've now got a good idea of the shape of the cover but I'm still in a bit of a quandary as to what material to use. Does anyone else have any information?

Le Mans Boot (Luggage Space) Cover
Can anyone help with information about the original boot cover for my 1934 Le Mans 9 please: What material was used? Black double duck (same as the hood) or leather/leathercloth (presumably of the same colour as the upholstery)? How was it attached to the body at the front? Was it cut to fit around ...

Re: Water temperature and oil pressure gauges
Thanks everyone for all your encouraging remarks about my dashboard. I just need to finish the rest of the car to the same standard now before I get too old to drive it! David (cdk84) - the temperature gauge (a Jaeger) came with the car when I first aquired it many years ago and I've no reason to be...

Re: Le Mans 9 Dynamo
For the record it seems likely that dynamos with three external terminals were on occasion fitted to the nines as original equipment. Possibly if the Lucas C45s were out of stock? It transpires that it is very simple to use three terminal dynamos as an alternative to the two terminal version. All th...

Re: 9 LM inner door hardware
You're right. The picture of the cockpit in the Le Mans instruction book/repair manual shows this clearly. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
But even mounted pointing forward the replica handles are not in an ideal position so I will still try to modify them.

Re: 9 LM inner door hardware
I recently purchased a pair of inner door handles from the SOC. They are nice castings, dimensionally slightly smaller than the original (see picture). I can live with this but but the main problem is that the square hole has been cast at 45° to the original so that when fitted they do not lie at a ...

Le Mans 9 Dynamo
The dynamo that was fitted to my 1934 Le Mans 9 when I first acquired it (many, many years ago) has three external terminals as ilustrated on the photo below. I suspect it is not original as all the pictures and the wiring diagrams I have seen show two terminals, although the flange and shaft fit my...

Re: Water temperature and oil pressure gauges
Thanks for that Peter. Water temperature gauge now in place. Need more tubing to connect oil pressure gauge.
Dashboard in place and looking good - just need to connect everything now!

Water temperature and oil pressure gauges
I've at long last fitted the dashboard to my 1934 Le Mans 9 two seat. Can anyone please help with the following:
a) The original route of the capillary tube from the water temperature gauge to the radiator
b) Ditto for the oil pressure gauge to the engine
Thanks

Re: LM rear Hartford shocks
Have you thought of using an electrolytic method for cleaning your shock absorbers? The process is easy, effective, cheap and well described on several internet sites, e.g. http://antique-engines.com/electrol.asp All you need is a plastic bucket or bowl, some washing soda (sodium carbonate) which co...

Re: remove filler from Le Mans gas tank
Peter I used Loctite 641 described as a retaining compound, because I had some to hand. It is reasonably viscous and has gap filling properties but there are probably more suitable Loctite products ( https://www.henkel-adhesives.com/uk/en/products/industrial-adhesives/retaining-compounds.html ). It ...

Re: remove filler from Le Mans gas tank
Yes, mine was soft soldered on. Interesting logistical problem as to the original fitting procedure - presumably the tank was painted after soldering on the filler cap and masking it off. I re-painted my tank and had the filler re-chromed, then Locktite-ed it place with bearing fit grade, which will...

Re: 1934 Le Mans door buffer
Thanks to everyone who responded to my queries about the door support. Until I saw the pictures I didn’t have a clue what it could look like. By scaling the pictures I worked out the approximate dimensions and have made some sketches which may come in useful if anyone else wants to make them. Please...

1934 Le Mans door buffer
I would be grateful if someone could explain the construction of the buffer/bumper (for want of better words) on the sill underneath the Le Mans doors. The pictures show the remnants of mine - a mortise in the wooden sill covered by a chromium plated steel plate with a rectancular cut out with 'ears...

Re: 9 LM inner door hardware
Details of the (left hand) interior door lock attached, The plate thickness is 0.088" which doesn't seem to correspond to any standard imperial sizes, not that it is critical. The spigot to which the handle is bolted is brass, passes through the two brass washers and the arm and is swaged at th...
