Re: Cir 1934 nine roadster starts again…
I am certainly glad to know that I am not alone. I have checked and rechecked measurements and did make a few adjustments but still the same overall result with the bonnet, cutting in new piece to fit and rewiring is certainly an option, but that can wait for now until I get the rest locked down. An...

Re: Cir 1934 nine roadster starts again…
Having the car now going I started to look for body builders to skin the car. What a shock that was. Their books were either full of hot rod rebuilds or a price at about 3-4 times the cars value. So I bought a few extra bits of kit, some sheet alloy and steel to see what I could do. The alloy in the...

Re: 1934 9 Door detail
Thanks, they help a lot. I need to re access my edge gaps. From what I can see I first need to fit edge linings around each door and then l loosely fit the bottom and side edges that are eventually formed over on the door lining pieces, then focus on forming the top rolled edge and eventually the to...

1934 9 Door detail
Hi, I am about to skin my doors but I am little concerned I may not have the detail fit correct. Can some please post some photos of the fit of the doors in the frame and how the skin is attached? I believe I attach metal/aluminium frame to the sides and bottom of the doors and that the skin is then...

Finally after many days of rain and wild winds, I gt the car into a position to test the gearbox etc, they work, at least backwards and forwards in the garage with no funny noises. Attached is a photo pf the gearbox as received so you can understand some of my reservations.

Cir 1934 nine roadster starts again…
It has been a long while coming but after many personal and other setbacks, the motor stated today for the first time in some 60 years, there is a video, but I can’t upload at present (? Only 5.9 mb?) so just a few shots, in any case the video does not do justice to the exhaust note….
Re: Generator
Thanks, no the engine was only turning over on the starter so hopefully no major damage BUT NO SPLIT PIN. That explains what happened and thankfully, at this stage. I will go down shortly and check the shaft further, it is an original shaft so the hole should be there.
Just as well I posted, thanks.

Re: 9 LM inner door hardware
A question, why is there a spring on both plates? As the inside plate is simply a reciprocal action ie push/pull of the front plate, relying on that spring? Having two springs would seem to double the pressure?

Windscreen/hood pegs
I had need for two pegs and was fortunate to be able to borrow an original, Dave Hardwick’s version no longer being available. Attached are some drawings my brother made and the end result ready for chroming. Maybe of value to others along the way….measurements are pre chrome and approximate due to ...

Re: The Restoration of AYW709
Hi Mike, I did and do face the same problem with my bonnet radiator. At some stage somebody also cut about 1-11/2 inches from the dash end. Firstly I had a 2” strip tack welded to the dash end. But it still did not does not sit correctly against the radiator. When building the wood work from scratch...
