Re: Beginner

Here are a few things to keep in mind, depending on condition and how deep you want to take restoration: 1. The body is aluminum, which may require some welding. 2. The body frame is mostly wood, so some woodworking my be required. 3. Some parts are hard to get and must be procured from various part...

4AD Hubcaps

I was wondering if anyone can identify these hubcaps? They came on my 52 4AD but I can't say I've ever seen any other Singer with these installed. Are they of any value or should I toss them?
Thanks!

Re: rebuilding two 4A's

When restoring my 1952 4AD, all wood fasteners were steel. I found no brass or any other type material. Unfortunately, most local hardware stores seem to not carry slotted wood screws these days. As with all the proper Singer hardware, your patience will be tested as you wait for that special order ...

Re: Tools under the Bonnet

Hi Steve, Here are two photos of my 52 4AD tools under the bonnet including the OEM clips that hold them to the deck. For some of the clips, I added spacers to lift the tools such that the tools wouldn't contact and damage the deck which they are mounted to. The pump is an OEM Singer original and I ...

Re: Under frame window seal

I got mine from Bill Haverly of ASCO in England several years ago. Bill has passed on and I'm not sure who has taken over the club parts stock, but you can email Barry Paine at: barrydpaine@live.co.uk Barry can contact the right person to see if they might still have some in stock. Good Luck Fred

Re: 1952 Singer 4AD after 5 1/2 years!

Thanks for the kind remarks Phillip! Once again, I really do appreciate all the help you and others have given me! The Singer is not an easy total restoration project, but the club has made it fun and rewarding! I attended my first car show last week and what a blast!!! :P In the eyes of the public,...

Re: New Owner Here

Thanks Phillip, I was in the process of posting this picture but you beat me to it. Yes it is the same muffler as shown above, I acquired mine from Summit Racing. The OEM mounting calls for one single large support clamp in the center of the muffler which attaches to the frame rail. As I can tell, t...

Thanks Mark! Your patience with me due to all the questions I've asked does not go unappreciated! Thanks again!!! :P
I'm still in need of an OEM grease gun mounting clip for the tool deck. If anyone might have one they would like to part with, it would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks again, Fred

Re: 1952 Singer 4AD after 5 1/2 years!

Thanks Peter! You're right, I'm looking forward to a few car shows this year. Since Singer is one of the featured Marques, I'd love to be able to attend Stowe this year. Unfortunately, I have no idea how I could get the car there from Georgia without spending a fortune. An enclosed trailer and somet...

1952 Singer 4AD after 5 1/2 years!

Here is the first photo of the near completed car after 5 1/2 years of restoration. There are still several tiny projects that need completed, but it's nice to finally have something to drive. This photo was taken Easter Sunday, prior to a family trip to Dairy Queen. What a wonderful day to enjoy a ...

Re: Singer 4AD Tools

Thanks for looking D'Arcy, I appreciate the effort! I've come to the conclusion that Singer parts are out there, it's simply a matter of patience before whatever part you need shows up! Anybody else out there might have one?

Singer 4AD Tools

As I close in on the final details, I was wondering if anyone might have a spare clip that the grease gun mounts to on the tool shelf. I have all the other tools and associated clips, and it would be nice to have all OEM. I assume it looks like the one in the picture below. The good news is that t...

Re: Side mirrors

Unfortunately they are not my cars. They were inventory that was being liquidated at the classic car dealer/restoration shop in New Jersey that was closing it's doors. They definitely had some cool stuff on hand that was up for grabs! I bought the Singer on EBay and flew up to NJ to take a look and ...

Re: Side mirrors

Thanks for the info D'Arcy! I've actually purchased some mirrors, but will have to fabricate a bracket to mount to the windscreen. After receiving them and taking a close look, defects on the mirror surface has forced me to return them------back to the UK. As for an update on the project, the...
