Re: LM Door Pockets

I've measured the placement of the hole in the panel:

4 1/8" from the bottom of the panel
5 1/4" from the top of the panel
2 3/8" from the side nearest the door
3 1/8" from the scuttle side

Edges of the vent hole are all parallel with the panel edges

Re: LM Door Pockets

Yes they are original. Here's a shot from Bob Tayler's '34 LM. My Nine Sports has the same feature, which I copied from the original upholstery panels.

They are pretty standard, but 60 pounds seems to be the norm.

Re: Help identifying coupe

Hi Colin Yes it is threaded, but I can't recall if there is a left and a right. I don't think so. You'll find out if you opt to put in a sealed bearing. Dave Hardwick recommended a double inner seal to keep fluids in. However, I tried this on both my Lemans and Sports and it didn't do the job, which ...

Re: 1953 California 4AD

Congrats Avery. I wonder if your Grandfather belonged to the original Singer Owners Club. It was in full swing between 1952 and 1956. Things tapered off soon after with the lack of parts as well as some members being drafted.

Re: 1953 California 4AD

The original bill of sale is dated 1953. It looks like he finished paying for it in 1955 and that terminated his contract with the vendor at that time.

That's certainly the easiest way. My Nine Sports primes easily that way. My Le Mans does not

No, it's the pre war 6 cylinder sports or Le Mans variety.

Re: Le Mans recreation

The best way is to disconnect the pipe at the top of the pump. It is a tight fit to get a wrench in behind the radiator, so I cut one in half to do the job.

Was your Grandfather's name Peets?

Re the badge , do you mean the oval one at the top of the rad on the attached photo. This is available through NASOC. You can join by emailing Dave Green at alpdavegre@msn.com

Re: 1953 California 4AD

I assume the California sunshine took its toll on the paint fairly quickly. Certainly appears to be an original colour. FYI, it is Coronation Blue, in honour of Queen Elizabeth ascending the throne.

Re: 1953 California 4AD

I wouldn't get too hung up on those components. It's not a vintage Bentley. They won't really affect the value of the car. Re the wiring harness, they are available in original format, so you might find it easier to use than starting from scratch. Throttle cable won't make a difference either. There ...
