Think I’ve worked out how to get photo files published!
As per my previous post, attached is a close up of the original roof and tourneau material. The other photo is of the car with original tourneau and roof cover taken at Bondi in 1939!

Re: Vinyl Roof Material
It sounds as though “salt and pepper” might be an Australian term. The fabric is light grey with a black fleck through it. I’ve hopefully attached a photo of the original fabric although it’s 90 odd years old so it’s faded and discoloured a bit. I’ve also added a picture of the car taken in 1939 tha...

Vinyl Roof Material
Hi All, I’m interested to know if anyone knows if “Salt and Pepper” fabric is still available anywhere. I’m looking to get a new roof and tonneau cover made for my LeMans 4 Seater but haven’t been able to find the material in Australia. Original photos of the car look like this was the material used...

Re: 35 LM Carburettors
Thanks for the Carburettor Exchange contact, Colin. They were very helpful but do not recommend working with the 30IF carbs. The metal composition is such that most have succumbed to corrosion by now and they won’t work with them anymore. So it’s over to Plan B -30FAI carbs! Thanks for your help wit...

Re: 35 LM Carburettors
Thanks for the responses Gents! Colin, I will follow up the carburettor exchange people although I’m in Australia which makes the logistics (and cost) things to be considered. Brian, Are the carbs in the photo you posted on your car and if so do you happen to know the jet sizes in the event that I h...

35 LM Carburettors
Hi All. I have just started a rebuild of my cars engine and have found that both the 30 IF carburettors are very corroded in the body where the emulsion tube is mounted. I think they are both right offs. I would dearly love to be able to get them serviceable but Plan B is to use two 30FAI ones inste...

Re: trunk latch--how does it work?
The round spring loaded covers for budget locks are often available from engineering supply shops that sell the budget locks -at least this has been my experience in Australia.

Re: Links for rear shock absorber 52 4AD
Suspension Link 4AD.jpg Above is a photo of the new suspension/sway bar links I made for my 4AD. Its a bit difficult to see from the photo but the link between the universal ends are male threaded with a female threaded tube over them. This allows the length to be adjusted easily and locked with lo...

Re: Links for rear shock absorber 52 4AD
unnamed.jpg Above is a sketch of the modified rear gearbox mount I made for my 4AD. Coming up with an alternative was a necessity as I could not source replacements at the time I needed them. It can use the original mount backing plate and new grommets that the mounting horns of the gearbox fit snu...

Re: Links for rear shock absorber 52 4AD
I noticed this post is about 6 months old but may be able to assist on both the rear gearbox mount issue and the rear suspension/sway bar links for the 4AD. I could not source new links anywhere when I was looking for them around 2015. I modified modern links that are found on many makes these days ...

Re: 1935 LeMans Headlights
Hi Phillip. My apologies for not replying sooner-I wasn’t expecting that there would be anymore discussion on that thread and I haven’t been on the forum for……months! That was a GREAT Australian marketing picture of the 1935 4 seater -mine looks just like it (apart from the headlights!). I now have ...

Re: 1935 LeMans Headlights
Thanks Mike! I’ll start looking at what suppliers are around for the Lucas lights. I hope to start the restoration proper in the new year.
